Whiteboard editing tools in Blackboard Collaborate

A set of tools for editing and marking up Whiteboard pages is available (if you have been granted the Whiteboard privilege) to the left of the main Whiteboard area. The image below identifies each of the editing tools by number; corresponding tool descriptions are provided below.

Whiteboard Editing Tools

  1. Selection Tool
To select an existing object on the Whiteboard screen (for example, so you can move it around), click the Selection Tool button (the arrow), then click on the Whiteboard, and either drag a box around the area/object with the selection tool or click on an individual object. You can then move the object you have selected, or delete it by pressing the Delete key on your computer keyboard. You can also select more than one object on the Whiteboard screen. To do this, hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard and click on the objects you want to select.

  2. Pointer Tool
The pointer is useful for drawing attention to specific parts of the Whiteboard screen when you are presenting. Select the Pointer tool, then click on the Whiteboard window and drag the laser pointer over the areas of the Whiteboard screen you would like to emphasize. The other participants will see the laser pointer icon as long as you are holding down the left mouse button. Click and hold on the Pointer tool button to select different pointer icons (see image below).
